(Cupventi.com) – In a filled auditorium at CrimeCon 2023 in Orlando, a notable moment took place during forensics expert Joseph Scott Morgan’s lecture on the University of Idaho student murders. Ethan Chapin’s mother, Stacy, made a heartfelt surprise appearance, leaving a deep impact on the audience.

Morgan, a respected forensics professor, and host of the Body Bags podcast, delivered a lecture titled “The Idaho Murders: An Expert Forensic Analysis,” drawing from his forensic expertise and available case documents. Stacy Chapin, Ethan’s mother, joined the event, revealing her identity to the audience during the Q&A session after the lecture.

Stacy bravely identified herself, sharing, “I’m Stacy Chapin, and I’m Ethan’s mom,” eliciting gasps and applause from the audience. She acknowledged the difficulty of watching the presentation but emphasized the incredible qualities of the students involved in the tragedy, specifically her son Ethan.

In an unplanned and emotional moment, Stacy conveyed her deep gratitude to Morgan for honoring the four students in his lecture. Morgan, deeply moved by her unexpected presence, expressed relief that he had shown the respect the situation warranted. Despite being unplanned, both Chapin and Morgan recognized the importance of her impromptu address.

Ethan Chapin, a University of Idaho student, tragically lost his life in a home invasion stabbing incident in November 2022. In his memory, Ethan’s Smile Foundation was established by his family, offering scholarships to students, aiming to provide the opportunities Ethan aspired to.

Stacy, during her emotional on-stage appearance, shared the motivation behind Ethan’s Smile, expressing her desire to offer every student a chance to fulfill their dreams through education. She announced plans for a fundraising gala on the anniversary of the attack to commemorate Ethan’s life and support the foundation’s mission.

Ethan, a triplet studying recreation, sport, and tourism management, would have turned 21 soon. His parents, planning to celebrate with his siblings, are enduring the legal proceedings against the accused attacker. Despite the difficult circumstances, they strive to honor Ethan’s memory and impact others positively through the foundation.
