Woman Brutally Beaten After Uber

(Cupventi.com) – A Michigan woman, Morgan Catton, 27, was randomly attacked by a man on a bicycle after being dropped off by an Uber in Detroit. Catton shared the harrowing details of the incident on her GoFundMe page, explaining that she was heading to a friend’s house after being dropped off around 10 p.m. on Friday, September 13.

While walking down the sidewalk, she noticed a man on a bicycle approaching her on the same side. As the man neared, he suddenly dismounted, grabbed Catton by the neck, and threw her to the ground, where he repeatedly punched her in the face. “Not a word was shared,” she wrote.

Following the attack, Catton managed to call 911 and ran to a safer location, where an ambulance arrived to assist her. She spent the night in the hospital, receiving stitches for injuries to her left eye, inside her mouth, and lips. “CT scans and other tests were conducted to ensure I had no broken bones. I am very thankful to walk away from this without even a fracture,” Catton explained.

Detroit police confirmed the assault in a statement, noting that the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle and that the incident seemed to be random. The investigation is being handled by the 10th Precinct of the Detroit Police Department.

The suspect is believed to be a man in his 40s or 50s, around 5 feet, 8 inches tall, and was riding a dark blue or gray bicycle. Catton, in her GoFundMe appeal titled “Support Morgan’s Recovery from Assault,” expressed concern for others, writing, “This man is still roaming the streets, and I pray this doesn’t happen to another woman or worse.”

Uber has reached out to Catton following the terrifying incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Detroit Police Department at (313) 596-1040 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
