(Cupventi.com) – Golden State Warriors assistant coach Dejan Milojević passed away at the age of 46 after experiencing a heart attack. The incident occurred during a private team dinner in Salt Lake City on Tuesday night, leading to Milojević’s hospitalization.

Despite life-saving efforts, he succumbed to the medical emergency on Wednesday morning. Milojević had traveled with the Warriors for the game scheduled for that night.

Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr expressed profound grief, stating, “We are absolutely devastated by Dejan’s sudden passing. This is a shocking and tragic blow for everyone associated with the Warriors.” Kerr praised Milojević not only as a skilled basketball coach but also as “one of the most positive and beautiful human beings I have ever known.”

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also mourned Milojević’s passing, highlighting his contributions to the Warriors’ 2022 NBA championship and his influential presence in global basketball. The NBA announced the postponement of the Warriors-Jazz game scheduled for Wednesday, with a makeup date to be determined later.

Sources revealed that players and coaches were dining together when Milojević suffered the heart attack. Milojević, who joined Kerr’s coaching staff in 2021, was well-respected in both the NBA and international basketball circles.

He had a close relationship with Serbian player Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. Milojević, with a 15-year professional playing career, had notable stints in Serbia, Spain, Montenegro, and Turkey.
