(Cupventi.com) – The search for Melissa Jubane, a nurse who went missing shortly after her wedding, has ended tragically with police discovering her body and arresting her neighbor, Bryce Johnathan Schubert, for her murder.
Jubane, 32, disappeared just days after returning home to Beaverton, Oregon, following her wedding to Bryan Llantero in Hawaii. The couple, who had dated for nearly a decade, had returned to Oregon on September 1, following their August 24 wedding in Kalihi, Hawaii.
Jubane, who worked at Providence St. Vincent Hospital in Southwest Portland, was reported missing when she failed to show up for her morning shift on September 4. Her coworkers and family members quickly grew concerned, especially after she had attended her shift on September 3. When officers searched her residence, they found her car still parked in the garage, but her bag, wallet, and keys were missing. Her phone was turned off, heightening concerns over her sudden disappearance.
A thorough investigation led police to suspect Schubert, a 27-year-old neighbor of Jubane, in her disappearance. He was arrested and charged with her murder, with his first court appearance set for Monday, according to Washington County officials.
The devastating news of Jubaneās death shocked her family, friends, and colleagues. Bryan Llantero, her husband, was described as “destroyed and devastated” by his mother, Imelda Llantero, who flew to Oregon to be by his side. Imelda expressed her sorrow, saying, “I miss her. Iām so happy Bryan met her. They were happy, very happy.”
Providence St. Vincent Hospital issued a statement mourning the loss of Jubane, describing her as an exceptional nurse who embodied the hospitalās values of compassion and integrity. āOur hearts are broken at the news of Melissaās death. She is mourned by her co-workers and will be greatly missed,ā the statement read.
The University of Portland School of Nursing and Health Innovations, where Jubane graduated in 2018, also shared their condolences, stating that Melissa exemplified the values of their community. “She will be missed greatly by everyone who knew and worked with her,” the school expressed.
The Beaverton Police have thanked the community for their assistance in the search for Melissa but have withheld further details to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
