9 Killed, Including 5 Children After Vehicle Flips Over

(Cupventi.com) – In a tragic incident in Florida, nine individuals, including five children, lost their lives when a vehicle overturned into a canal, according to authorities.

A single survivor, who sustained injuries during the accident, is currently hospitalized, officials reported.

The crash took place on Monday evening in Palm Beach County. At around 7:30 p.m., emergency calls alerted authorities to a car in a canal near Belle Glade. Upon arrival, first responders discovered an overturned vehicle with only its wheels visible, stated Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Capt. Tom Reyes.

The accident occurred as the vehicle was heading west on Hatton Highway. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office accident report, the driver, for reasons yet unknown, failed to navigate a left turn properly. The vehicle veered off the road onto the shoulder, struck a guardrail, and flipped into the canal.

Four victims were declared dead at the scene, while six others were transported to a local hospital, with two airlifted, as reported by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Five of those transported to the hospital later succumbed to their injuries.

The victims who died included five children and four adults, as confirmed by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue. Authorities have not released their ages. The driver was among the deceased. The sole survivor, identified in the accident report as 26-year-old Jorden Hall, remains hospitalized with injuries from the crash.

The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office shared, “We have one survivor for a total of 10 victims including babies. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families during this heartbreaking incident.”

Fire rescue teams, including divers, along with the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, responded to the crash scene.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.
